    Local News for Wednesday the 17th of November,

    There were 12 COVID-19 cases in the Mid North Coast Local Health District reported to 8pm on Monday.

    - 8 are from Port Macquarieand 4 are from Kempsey

    - 9 of the cases are household contacts of a confirmed case and 3 are linked to a known case or cluster.

    Three people are in hospital and there are 191 active cases throughout the District.

    The Member for Oxley Melinda Pavey has announced that 19 local projects have been funded through the NSW Government’s 2021 Community Building Partnership Program

    saying that the funding (totalling $400,000) will directly help create a more vibrant and inclusive local community with positive social, environmental and

    recreational outcomes.

    Some of the organisations that were successful in their applications include, the Kempsey Crescent Head Surf Life Saving Club, the Kempsey Tennis Club,

    the Kempsey Flying Club and the South West Rocks Surf Life Saving club.

    The Community Building Partnership program has funded more than 16,000 community projects since it commenced in 2009.

    In 2022, there is another $400,000 to allocate in each electorate. Applications for the Program open early in the new year.

    Local News for Tuesday the 16th of November,

    There were four COVID-19 cases in the Mid North Coast Local Health District reported on Sunday night.

    - 3 cases are from Kempsey

    - and 1 one is from Port Macquarie

    - 2 of the cases are linked to a known case and 2 are household contacts of a confirmed case.

    Four people are in hospital and there are 185 active cases throughout the District.

    First dose The latest vaccination rates have been released with

    Bellingen, Nambucca, Kempsey, Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour all at a 95% first dose rate.

    The Statewide first dose rates for NSW are at 94.2% with the 12 to 15 year old age group at 80.6%

    The Big Day Out event will be taking place at Kempsey's Riverside Park on Friday the 3rd of December to celebrate the International

    Day of People with Disabilities.

    Everyone is welcome to this free community event.

    Inclusive activities for people of all abilities include a Laser tag arena,

    Jumping castles, Live interactive reptile show, Magic shows, Tye dyeing and a DJ and music.

    The event runs from 10am to 2pm and due to the NSW Public Health Order, only those who are fully vaccinated or those with a

    medical exemption can attend.

    There is a 5 day COVID-19 Vaccination Blitz taking place this week at Kempsey Racecourse.

    The clinic will be open until Friday between 10am and 3pm.

    The Pfizer vaccine is available for all community members over 12 years of age.

    Local News for Monday the 15th of November,

    - 2 are from Port Macquarie and

    - 2 cases in Kempsey

    - 3 of the cases are household contacts of a confirmed case and 1 case is under investigation.

    A 39 year old man and 38 year old woman were arrested and charged after a search warrant was executed on Friday morning.

    Mid North Coast Police District Detectives supported by the Dog Unit executed a search warrant

    at a West Kempsey address where they located a firearm, quantity of cannabis and cannabis plants.

    The man was charged with eight offences and was refused bail and appeared at Port Macquarie Local Court on Saturday.

    The woman was charged with one offence and was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Kempsey Local Court.

    Kempsey Shire Council held a premiere event for a documentary to mark the second anniversary of the Black Summer Bushfires on Wednesday

    evening. The screening was Attended by residents featured in the film, dignitaries, RFS volunteers and key stakeholders.

    The documentary features locals telling their experiences of the 2019 bushfires, and opens with an introduction by legendary Australian actor,

    and Mid North Coast resident, Jack Thompson, outlining the catastrophic impact the bushfires had on the Macleay

    Valley.

    Free public screenings of the documentary will be held at Majestic Cinema Kempsey over the coming weeks before being released online.

    Kempsey’s Lilli Pilli Ladies have raised more than $40,000 in support of local hospitals in the

    past five years, and have recently donated $6000 to help fund the refurbishment of the Mid North

    Coast Cancer Institute’s quiet rooms.

    These rooms, located within the Institute at Port Macquarie, provide a safe and private space

    for oncology team members to meet with patients and their support people.

    The donation will fund comfortable chairs, new paint work, tables and plants.

    The Lilli Pilli Ladies are planning their next fundraiser on International Women’s Day,

    on Saturday the 5th of March 2022. Further details will be shared closer to the event.
